Artsy Marsy
« on: March 05, 2017, 01:40:20 AM »
I think @Tyrannohotep will put me to shame with the frequency of art produced, but I felt prompted to make my own art thread (since I got a brush pen at comic con yesterday and it's pretty legit, folks). (Part of it is so I can shamelessly air that I'd really like paid commissions) I mainly do digital character portraits, like so:

But I also do full body occasionally ...

And even maps!

I also do traditional art (though that's a lot more difficult to commission remotely if the original was wanted), and a lot of examples of those can be found on my dA page. (My hobby of drawing dresses (loosely) based off of Pokemon can also be observed).

So!! There we are. Thanks for reading & taking a gander at my art if you made it this far :D

Wow, those drawings are amazing, @Mars! Especially the maps, but I also really like the character drawings, too.

I like both the portraits and the maps. Keep on going!

Would you also be interested in doing pre-vis (storyboarding) work? Something like this.

I would definitely be interested! I found out about storyboarding about four or five months ago, and it strongly intrigues me, though I haven't done a lot of practicing with it. I've attached a few of my storyboarding attempts--a practice from a movie, a short monologue clip from a friend's movie script, and a scene from my novel Chromatic Mage. (I didn't bother to clean any of these up since they were for my use only, but I know that less lines = less work in the long run!)

( @Xyem -- The Chromatic Mage one attached here because I think file sizes weren't playing nice so it wouldn't post.)

@Jedi Knight Muse -- Thanks! I'm a little new to maps, so that's pretty much my entire portfolio of those, other than traditional doodles in my sketchbooks

@Tyrannohotep -- Thanks! :)

Awesome!

Any ideas on a cost to do an initial storyboard a music video (3:45 in length, maybe a bit longer (4:00) with prologue and epilogue?

*quietly scrambles to internet for research*

That depends on a few factors:
    What's your budget?
    Is there a time frame/deadline?
Are there any designs to use for reference? (Interiors/exteriors, props, characters)
Genre of music (more action/more adjusting camera angles = more panels)?
Do you have a script for how you want the video to play out? (What are the lyrics?)
How continuous would you like the boards?
How clean do you want the boards to be? Rough thumbnails, clean boards, color boards? What size?
I'm going to do some practice today and see how long it takes me to do panels. I don't have a reference yet on what would be a reasonable price per hour/panel for me to ask, since I'm not an animation grad and not a professional storyboard artist. In general, I'd like to make around $10-12 per hour.

(Should we move to pm for this kind of thing? I'm not sure.)

Up to you, I don't mind. This is where real-time chat would be good. I'm on Skype, if you want to chat on there?
